"STALWARTS"
The Stolly is the nickname given to the British produced amphibious vehicle correctly known as the "Alvis-Stalwart".

The Stolly has some very unique features. Its heavy steel hull is much thicker and was designed for a longer usable life. Its marine propulsion system is totally unique in that it does not rely on a normal single propeller under the vessel. Instead it gets its marine propulsion by sucking water at intake ports on each side and expelling the water by means of a dowry water jet device that is hydraulically operated. Marine steering is also achieved by the system.
The most visible Alvis-Stalwart feature is its glass "bubble" forward operator's cab.

The Stollys have had some American companies specialize in their conversion to tour vessels. They were first believed to be used for passenger service in the U.S., in the 1990's.
